Challenge: Loose soils and difficult terrain
As part of Deutsche Bahn's current investment initiative, an approximately 8 km long section of track between Passau and Nuremberg is being repaired. Extensive slope stabilization work is required in the valley crossing near the Laber Viaduct at Deining. The work is being carried out in steep and, in some places, difficult-to-access terrain. At the same time, the locally very loose soil places increased demands on the drilling technology and execution. Access to the individual drilling points is restricted, making the use of equipment correspondingly challenging.
Slope stabilization in railway construction: 21,000 meters of drilling under challenging conditions
Since drilling began at the end of February, approximately 21,000 meters of ISCHEBECK 52 drilling have been completed. This represents about two-thirds of the total scope. A significant contribution has been made by the subcontractor Andreas Locker, which has completed around 9,000 meters of drilling. Due to the terrain, spider excavators are being used. They provide the necessary reach and ensure the required stability on the slopes.
